In the Swiss car dealership sector, 90% of all garages have 1 to 9 employees, 9% have 10 to 49 employees and almost 1% are garages with 50 to 249 employees. One thing is clear: the car dealership sector is an SME sector in the best sense of the word. SMEs are close to the Swiss motorist and they ensure a diverse and customized range of products. In addition, they ensure that competition in the Swiss car market functions properly.
However, these many SMEs have been struggling with major problems for years. This is because they are dependent on large importers. These systematically exploit their market power. They discriminate against and harass the many owner-managed SMEs up and down the country.
The diversity and (still) functioning competition in the Swiss automotive market must not be destroyed.
With the "Autohandel" project, the SKR is helping SME garages and car dealers to assert themselves against the major importers. They are finally being given a strong and weighty voice in the legal, political and media arenas.
Thanks to the SKR team's many years of experience in these areas, the problems are addressed in a targeted and systematic manner and changes are tackled.
